The Prophet's Secret

Believe it or not Mystics have been saying the same thing the so-called Rationalists have been saying for years, when it comes to Magick, Mysticism and even Prognostication.  This peek into the Hermetic Law of Cycles brings us a bit closer to understanding this great truth.

The Prophet’s Secret

There exists a very ancient Hermetic Law known as the Law of Cycles.  On one level it’s more a matter of observable reality, the fact that even a broken watch will tell the correct time twice a day; that each year brings us a Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter and that Haley’s Comet will pay a visit every about every 75-years. Part of this axiom focuses on human nature and the fact that humankind just loves to repeat its mistakes; we never learn the many lessons about how our arrogance destroys or how our bigotry actually makes us weak.  The list of examples seems endless and yet we insist on doing the same things over and over again; each generation believing that they can make things happen differently, failing to acknowledge that one must change the energy if they are to change the manifestation (also a Hermetic truth).

Mystics have known this truth since the earliest of their days and have employed it at various levels, as part of the formula used when surveying the future.  The human animal being so predictable that our most remote ancestors discovered how a person born during a specific time of year would most likely express certain traits and, like the others born at around the same time as he/she, accomplish the same general things in life (even in dealing with many of the same karmic challenges).  Over time this system of prognostication turned into Astrology and until a few short centuries ago, was seen as scientific reality.  At least this was so until a small group of egos chose to separate the apparent chaff from the grain and invented the science of Astrology; which still looks at the cyclic travels of the stars and planets and still offers its own form of prediction, all of which is veiled behind that human need to be “right” – to be “superior” and of course, beat the gods at their own game . . . man’s greatest of all goals, and likewise his Achilles heel.

As I’ve already mentioned, the ego of man is what perpetuates certain of these cycles and is what makes us all so darn predictable. Careful consideration as to the symbolic implication however, what the word EGO actually says about itself, might just hand us one of the keys needed for making a bold shift in the proverbial paradigm.

And Before it is Said. . . I am not saying that humankind should go back to seeing the miraculous in everything or living in caves whilst fearing thunder, or any of the other exaggerations our intellectual detractors would like to intimate; not in the least. I’m a very firm believer that mysticism and science are on many levels, one in the same. In this example we can see how science itself proves a law that’s been tied to mysticism and matters of the spirit since before time was recorded; we can even see the impetus from which pseudo-sciences like Astrology, evolved. But likewise, at least when we take a few steps back and look at how, every time the human race has forgotten about nature and what is natural, we have had to start anew.

I bet you thought I was going to say “god” didn’t you?

It would probably surprise you if I said that I actually did say “God” I just used different terms to do so, which is what scholastic based science tends to do when it comes to things magickle and mystical; it shares the very same things our ancestors knew of but were ill-equipped to clarify and more concisely define their observations.  This is the main reason behind “Magickle Thinking” but it is not the sole reason; as I’ve said before, too many of us are simply in love with the romantic notion – the fantasy – such esoteric things suggest. We are likewise susceptible to Ego but not at the intellectual level as previously described. Rather, we embrace a kind of personal fantasy in which we arrogantly see ourselves as being superior or “special”. . .

. . . which is probably why so many joke about New Age Psychics believing themselves Channelers after someone blows in their ear.

What’s such things got to do with Cyclic Law? You ask.

Because the true mystics – those wise one’s that have actually lived life and trudged through the trenches, understand the patterns from both, microscopic and macroscopic views; they’ve watched human beings repeat the same exact antics large and small, day after day, year after year. The names and places may differ but the patterns seem to be constant; when you add certain ingredients to a cocktail you will get specific results. It’s a little something the pioneers of human mental health started formalizing a century or two back and what shaman and Gypsies have plied in trade for more than a few hundred generations.

Today, all of us benefit from a surface understanding of this great law by way of the daily weather forecasts or those that pontificate world economics, politics, etc. All of it minimalistic scratches on the surface of a very bit nut we need to crack if we are to ever get to the core of things and finally do what must be done to exact “change” and thus, graduate from this particular level of understanding to the next.

No, it’s not magickle thinking though our willingness to learn from magickle things can assist us in meeting that destiny. What’s wondrous though, is the fact that it really is magick, the kind from which miracles really do grow and lead is transmuted into gold.

Think about it!

Mysticism & Science

Why are we supposed to choose between our "belief" between one or the other, when both are on many fronts, one in the same thing?

Just as the Japanese use different sounds to describe something I look at and see as being a shoe, doesn't mean that they are right and I'm wrong, only that there is more than one way to describe the very same item. . .

. . . or experience

I'm far from being the brightest bulb in the pack but I am intelligent enough to see how much of what one learns from a sound study in Hermetics and other aspects of the Occult Arts & Sciences, mirrors what we know through the auspices of Newtonian and Einstein related principles. The two do no cancel one another out, nor does the one replace the idea of things divine. Rather, the latter confirms what our ancestors lacked the means and ability to illustrate, describe and convey.  Then again, it could be that modern Science is finally cracking open the wall between the parishioner and the Holy of Holies; finally approaching an more intense form of "God" from a pragmatic perspective.

Fortunately, there are many layers to this onion and what Science now makes accessible, it is likewise complicating -- expanding upon -- preparing us all for a most marvelous journey that will take the human race light-years away from where we currently stand as a divisive race.
