There are three keys that reveal who we are and why we are here in this particular lifetime; the Signs set around our instant of birth, the patterns set within our hands and the numeric harmonies found within the names we are given by our parents as well as those we may take-on in our latter days. These three things make-up the software -- the very program that defines us and sets us apart from all others even when they are born within the same moment in the same latitudes & longitudes as we. -- while we will share certain traits, our names and hand patterns will allow us independent identity as well as expression.
Most who believe in things Metaphysical likewise believe in the Law of Necessity – Reincarnation. But in this there remains a question or two such as how the Universe insures that we will come into life with the appropriate skills and awareness levels – how our karma defines us and allows us to be spiritual boy scouts, prepared for the challenges (lessons) that lay before us? The “answer” I believe, comes in three forms as to us personally and in the psychic form of new life, and too there are those planning stages prior to conception.
The Reincarnation philosophy that I was taught and tend to lean most towards suggests that it takes between 150 and 200 years before a soul properly processes and return to the terrestrial dimension. I emphasize the term “properly” in that many of the younger, less mature souls want to jump back into things before they’ve completed the preparatory process. Too, you have that handful of evolved souls who wish to complete certain tasks so they step back in, sometimes literally, so as to complete certain processes on behalf of humanity as well as their own soul-destiny.
According to Brother Anthony Penera an evolved soul will know 5 incarnations per “enlightenment level”; see it as a kind of scholastic setting in which you graduate to the next level after completing 5 semesters in the previous level. Unfortunately there are those that don’t get it, who will be held back until they are able to complete all assignments in a satisfactory manner. Even more unfortunate is the fact that this can sometimes entail millennia, depending on how stubborn said soul can be. But, in the perfect scenario we are about to walk through the 5 semester cycle proves the direct route and likewise explains a great deal when it comes to one’s sexual expression.
The 5th incarnation is our Final Exam so to speak, which is possibly why those manifesting themselves in this mode, seem chaotic and even unstable at times; they came in with loads of baggage – an accumulation of things that must be dealt with in this particular lifetime in order to move-on and begin the next cycle in their spiritual evolution.
Following along with Bro. Anthony’s perspective on Reincarnation we are faced with how like begets like. In other words, if you were a white racists and woman beater in one life, you would return in the form of an abused ethnic female so that balance could be achieved. However, there’s an interesting “check & balance” element here.
My ex tells the story of a past-life experience in which she’s would in the field when a group of marauders headed towards her and two other children, each of them murdered as this group headed to their small village. In this life however, she meets a man at a local Swap Meet who, without a single ounce of conversation between them, walks up to her and apologizes for what he’d done, admitting to a person that was at that moment, a total stranger, that he was the one the slayed her centuries before.
Unfortunately my big past-life memory in Egypt was that of being an attempted abortion by a temple priestess who, in this lifetime acknowledged me as that unwanted child but wished nothing to do when it came to making amends. For this reason we are destined to meet one another again and again until she finally admits her wrong in order to move on. I fear this is going to be a long time in coming given her perspective on things.
My point is, cycles of this sort can be altered but only when both parties are in agreement or when we, as the traveler, awaken to our own “guilt” as it were, and chose to correct matters. This is after all, the purpose behind the whole Reincarnation & Karma thing. But “How” does it become a part of us? Where is that information imprinted so as to hover around us in life?
Let’s go back to the spirit realm when we are gathered with our Spirit Guides, Teachers & Masters as well as those other souls with whom we’ve interacted over the generations, what is owed to them or by them to us . . . everything is literally laid on the table and a kind of negotiation process ensues. Through the course of this process the skills and abilities we are to know in the new life are agreed upon just as the challenges and lessons are confirmed. The next step is to plan out the who, what & where of things that will best prepare us for meeting the obligations and best fulfilling our “destiny”, this is where we come into agreement with those that will be our parents, siblings, friends and even foes as well as latter life relationships with teachers, mentors, employers as well as counsel (clergy, therapists and so on). This however is an overly simplified look at things, the truth being rather confounding in that we must likewise map out the options; what if you make this particular choice for a career vs. this?
What if you marry this person instead of that person?
Free Will is a constant but in order to have that Free Will we must have planned for the options prior to inception in that every choice we make must take us towards specific ends, allowing us the opportunity to correct the imbalances of our past as well as evolving those skills and knowledge-based strengths we were blessed with for this life – the positive aspects of our karma. This is something that detractors of Reincarnation and the whole Psychic thing either wish to side-step or ignore completely, clinging to the myth that we live lives that are “predestined” in which no freedom of choice exists; an exaggeration stated by the church and since adopted and perpetuated by the pseudo-intellectuals of the skeptic’s culture. But, as the ancient Wise Ones frequently pointed out, there are many paths but only one destiny.
Were you aware that the primary lines in our hands are formed towards the latter part of the first trimester when we are in our mother’s womb? This is long before the hand is fully formed and able to curl & flex, which is the typical explanation by skeptics when it comes to our palm-print. Then again, they seem incapable of explaining why the lines of the hand shift throughout life based on decisions and events we are exposed to.
My personal theory starts with this fact and how our palms are a physical expression of our karmic software, that etheric program that imprints itself onto our essence. While the handprint is mutable, like one of the other two aspects, there is a key factor that is “concrete” – that we cannot change; the date, time and location of our birth.
Our Astrological sign and related influences are the cornerstone upon which either consciously or subconsciously build our lives while our Palmistry and Numerological influences reflect choice, talent & over-all challenge.
What we must look for are those assets & deficits shared by all three systems rather than the more expanded overview found in each; the commonalities are what most apply to us and too, they tend to be the least mutable of traits. While we can temper certain issues by way of a name change or simply changing how our name is spelled, we cannot escape the lessons in question. Another way of either claiming power or taming it, is whether or not you go by your middle name vs. your first name; whether you employ the formal form of your name such as “Robert” vs. “Rob”, “Bob” or “Bobby”
We cannot change our palm-based influence and yet our palms remain mutable in the fact that they will change slowly but most readily in an observable many, as we make changes and choices in life; the left hand (in common tradition) revealing what’s coming into our life while the right not only shares a bit about our present with the left, but likewise things that are on the horizon; near future and distant. As one old Palmist pointed out to me some years ago, a study of a person’s hand will reveal to you a rather frank and accurate understanding of their astrological patterns.
But I thought the Astrological influence wasn’t changeable?
It’s not, but it does echo the sense of option and opportunity we will have in life as well as the general course we will travel; the highs & lows, the assets & deficits as well as points of compatibility, even when we should or shouldn’t act upon things pertaining to different aspects in life be it career and vocational choices or family planning.
When looked upon with a Hermetic perspective, one’s Astrological chart becomes a map by which you can work with the essence of natural or Universal Law – the scientific outcropping of things spiritual & mental. While it takes a while to learn the ins & outs our Astrology, it can prove a great ally when it comes to our deliberate act of healing our own lives, correcting our own karma as well as developing a present existence in which serenity and general “comfort” – peace of mind – prevails. Mind you we’re not talking about worldly treasures in this case, such things can prove an aspect of imbalance and are frequently the downfall of we simple mortals even though there is an abundance of “teachers” that would gladly preach to you about how worldly riches equate to one’s level of spiritual prowess – an idea that you will not find taught by the ancients especially when it comes to the likes of Buddha, Jesus or Muhammad the three most honored teachers in our past.
Numerology needless to say, is an area of personal penchant in that it allows us to make concrete, certain traits and adjustments we feel necessary in our lives. What must be understood however is that every change we make when it comes to the harmonics in our lives, we gain both positive and negative ties – the coin always has both sides thoroughly intact.
Like the Tarot and other such oracles Numerology allows us to make inquiries when it comes to life-decisions such as making a move to a new town or even across town to a new address. The change of street name, community name, zip code, etc. all impacts us on some level. When we are making such changes in our lives we must look at the numbers to see what the compatibilities are and allow those results to aid us in making each decision. While some would think this a peculiar thing, it is the actual reason behind all divination. What makes Numerology different to the Tarot or I Ching however is that we are looking at specific energy and how well it harmonizes with our own energy, which isn’t the case with the other oracles.
The other point when it comes to Numerology is how it is part of the cosmic software that gets imprinted on our lives within the conception period; we are given a last name almost instantly followed by our first and middle names; the first name and its vibration reveals a great deal about our formative cycle in life (birth to early teens) while our middle-name paints a picture of things surrounding life from our mid-teens into our early and mid-30’s. Needless to say, the last name dominates our entire life but becomes most significant as we move into middle age and our golden years. While this is an over-simplification on things you should get the gist as to what it means and why.
There is a tradition amongst certain groups in which a kind of “Druidic Blessing” would be pronounced on a child the day following its first year of life. While this could be done by the Patriarch/Matriarch of the family or any other “Holy Person” within the village the purpose was always the same as was the process; to bestow onto the child a magickle name along with an understanding of the animal spirits tied to the child and from the more Druidic side of things, the trees & shrubs that were likewise totem to them (Ogham).
This “Magickle Name” was to be kept silent and used only in special rites and magickle operation. Its purpose was to augment and even tame those energies found in the child’s birth time and primary names as well as any omen that might be associated with the child’s birth. Needless to say, this tradition has known many adjustments over the centuries but it is yet another practice common to our ancestors that’s been nearly lost as humanity runs away from its roots, chasing after the illusion of greatness and “progress”.
Slow-Down and contemplate the old ways a bit more; teach these things to your children by showing them how special they are and why. Knowing one’s Astrological sign is not knowledge; knowing the significance of that sign, the planets and stars alongside the ebb & flow of one’s life – this isn’t just true knowledge, it can become a major source of empowerment when one choses to understand it along with the other aspects of the Karmic Software.
I pray that you digest these things and see for yourself just how these three keys relate to you, your quirks, challenges and attitudes . . . even your health issues which can be found through the Zodiac and your Numbers.
If you are a believer in metaphysical things then set aside the money you have thrown at Card Readers over the years and find a reputable Astrologer and Numerologist to work with; get their counsel first and study the reports so you can find the traits they both share. Then see a veteran Palmist for an in-depth report. Once you know these things I am confident you will come to an amazing realization as to how these things literally outline the course of your life and an accurate profile as to who you have been each step along the paths of travel you have known. . . and will yet know.
Once you are awaken to such things you will truly be prepared to take charge of your life and work towards genuine healing along a spiritually oriented route. The younger you are when you come to this realization, the greater the healing will become known and the more you will be able to claim when it comes to personal empowerment and psychic awakening.
We have the tools; we’ve but to learn how to use them. I hope I’ve givin you a reasonable glimpse.
Blessed Be!

One of the most difficult concepts taught in metaphysics is the fact that our carnal reality is as we have made it to be -- a matter of self-fulfillment and creation. Thus, every illness we come to know, every challenge we face within the various environs we find ourselves in, we brought it all into fruition. The question is of course, when -- how?
Truth is, there are many ways these things come into our carnal space starting with those plans made well before conception, while in the well of souls mapping out our new life with our Guides and Teachers. It is a tenuous process for it involves negotiated agreements with those soul-entities we've had interactions with in previous periods of incarnation; perhaps a one-time parent coming into your new life as a child or sibling, maybe even a lover. Nothing is too far-fetched and it is all based on the Karmic obligations we share with one another. Contrary to the beliefs of some, it's not all about you, sometimes it has to do with the needs of others that are indebted to you or vice-versa and in order for them to move on, a balance must be set between you
Karma is the Key However, it is through Karma that everything is held together and the cycles of existence are made to flow in an ever positive direction
When we live and know our mortal lives we are able to create new Karma, most of which is what we would refer to as "instant" karma; situations in which what we put out, returns to us in accordance to "the law of three" That is to say, if I were to curse you the expressed wish would in deed smite you in some manner but likewise, it would strike me three times and with each strike it would be compounded by three times the strength and energy it was sent. Therefore it is not wise to wish ill of others for it is a sure-fire way by which to insure self-torment and imprisonment. But then, one needn't express a negative wish to know carnal ills; this is the next aspect of instant karma.
Illness & Dis-ease comes upon us in two ways; by suppression of personal biases, resentments and various cause of denial and likewise in the form of willingly taking on the ills of others that they might know peace and mortal healing while you take on their burden. Some societies view this act as "Sin Eating" which is quite a reasonable descriptive though a touch in-accurate. The Sin-Eater takes on the confessed sins of the wealthy while the Healer -- those born of the mind and spirit that allows them to empathically connect with those who have learned their karmic lessons and are ready to move forward in life, in service of spirit and their fellow being. This is who is served and carnal economics has nothing to do with it.
There is a 3rd manner by which karma delivers illness or states of social/economic discomfort, a matter tied to our work in the spirit world as our new lives are laid out and karma of our past makes influence on this pending future. We consciously choose such hardships and challenges that our own karma might be healed and made right.
As has been said, the majority of our karma comes by way of personal action (or the lack thereof) during life itself. It's a matter of our "stink'n think'n" as some would call it, that can make a heav'n of hell or vice versa. The sages and prophets of most every great culture have given us parable upon parable of those that lived in abject poverty, at least that would be the case through the eyes of the average soul. To these individuals however, life was rich and theirs was a wealthy life for they knew happiness and fulfillment, the love of their family and the admiration of their friends and colleagues.
I can assure you, there are many in this world who have great financial advantage and political esteem yet there hearts are not at ease and their mind cannot rest; they have shut the door on humanity, serving only the self and believing that the "things" in their life are all that matter. They are crippled by greed and the lust of power -- being able to rule over others and viewing most as being beneath them in all things.
Taking on Karma is frequently done by accident; the neophyte that does not understand the principles of grounding or how to allow the life-force to flow through his/her self. Contrary to what many would have you believe however, we always retain a portion of the karma we agree to take-on for the benefit of others This is likewise an aspect of karmic obligation and how an evolved soul is able to expedite its spiritual evolution. When one volunteers to selflessly serve in such a way, the price will be exacted and in his/her latter years, manifested within their own health and well being. The idea that such a price can be nullified is a myth. While it can certainly be tamed, it cannot be canceled entirely or it is not an act of true sacrifice and service.
Together, they are the only thing that explains why there is so much suffering, waring, crime, and illness in our world -- the fact that humankind has yet, even after 5,000 years of hearing it, learned to live by the most perfect and complete of the divine commandments -- LOVE.
Until we learn to see the divine in all things and render to it the wholeness of love that we have for ourselves and our kindred, accepting it for whatever it may seem to be, however it may choose to reveal itself. Until we consciously awaken to that single commandment we cannot hope to know the fullness of life and purpose and thus, we will be obliged to continue this journey -- the cycle of life, death and rebirth. With each new incarnation we are given the opportunity to bring balance into our life -- our soul-self and its destiny.
Jokingly I tell people that I am a Buddhist Druid that embraces Gnostic Christianity for it is the culmination of these three traditions that best explain my personal mind-set and more importantly, promote the idea that KNOWLEDGE IS SALVATION. "God" as we've been told to believe in, does not exist. Yet, the concept around the idea of divinity is very real and is more akin to a water-weenie -- the more you try to grasp it and hold on to it, the quicker it will slip from your grip and get away. It is something that one can barely touch. . . it can only be held by letting go of it and honoring it, not by gripping or attempting to control it.
You can find the divine spark of this essence within yourself and all other sentient things IF you are willing to see it. The more you open your eyes and behold that beauty, the greater your own light will shine and the more balanced your own karma will become. But do not strive to be a thing of purest light, nor a thing of darkest, darkness for extremes keep us out of sync -- out of balance. Balance is however, the goal and our destiny. This is what Karma lends to us when we let it -- balance!
May you be blessed and know peace in all things.
Blessed Be!
